Human Trafficking Community Update
By Lower Adirondack Alliance for Freedom
PUBLISHED June 24, 2024
We wanted to thank you for attending our first panel on Human Trafficking in January of 2024. We also wanted to provide you with an update of our efforts and progress that has been made since January.
We established a Coalition of 20+ members from the Business, Work Force, Health Care, Social Services, Victim Advocacy, Non Profit, Church and Law Enforcement community. Our Coalition has held monthly meetings.
The Coalition has filed for non-profit status to work under the name:
Lower Adirondack Alliance for Freedom
Our mission is to combat human trafficking by raising awareness, advocating for victims’ rights, and providing comprehensive support services to survivors. Through collaboration with local communities, businesses, government agencies, and international organizations, we commit to prevent trafficking and empower survivors to rebuild their lives with dignity and freedom. Our commitment is to invest in our community, where every individual is protected from exploitation, and where the rights and well-being of all are respected and upheld.
We are excited to announce we will be holding another panel discussion this summer!
Based on the success of our first event, a second panel discussion is planned for August 8th at the Queensbury Hotel starting at 10am. The discussion will focus on Prevention and features many speakers embedded in anti-trafficking efforts right here in our community! Registration will be done by the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce and will open on July 8th.
Lastly, NY State Office of Children and Family Services offers CSEC (Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children) Train the Trainer sessions, and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and The WAIT House are having additional staff trained throughout the summer. The WAIT house has seen an increase in requests for trafficking education since the January Panel. Schools, agencies, first responders, health care organizations, and businesses interested in learning more about how to recognize the signs of trafficking and appropriately respond should reach out to the WAIT House to coordinate.
Please remember to register for our next panel (August 8th) at The Queensbury Hotel and help us get the word out by sharing with your friends, neighbors and family! We look forward to your continued support of this very worthy cause.
The Lower Adirondack Alliance for Freedom website will be up and running soon, more info to follow!
Thank you,
